I have always enjoyed education but going back to uni to study for a masters degree is one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced. I am both excited and nervous for what the next few years hold but I am eager to get stuck in.
Pushing myself to do a masters means that I have to be super organised. It doesn't help that I still plan working full time alongside so every minute of my time is valuable.
I have found that having a Diary specific to me helps so much I can plan my study days, my assignments and even my blog posts to fit around my schedule. This allows me to know what I am doing each day but more importantly organise my rest days so I can feel refreshed and replenished.
I have found that colour coding is a massive help for my studying it allows me to identify different areas so much easily and not have it all blur into one (plus a bit colour helps brighten up my day). I have decided to not only colour code my diary but my subjects and assignments. This means that I can quickly get to the right information without having to spend ages getting there. Like I said every minute is important so I need to use my time correctly.
I have really enjoyed shopping for stationary for my new course. New stationary is my kryptonite but it helps getting me into the correct mindset. It allows me to take pleasure in my course and of course there is nothing more satisfying that starting a new notebook or writing with a new pen. I have made sure to inject a little bit of colour into my stationary just so that I can have little fun even with the most boring things.
One thing that I have really enjoyed while I have been preparing is getting used to leaving the house and studying elsewhere. It's so easy to get bored stuck in the same four walls so I have made a point to have study days outside as well. I have found that going to a local coffee shop for a few hours or even hoping into the car for a nice drive that I could always take me laptop and study wherever. For me it will help keep me engaged and encourage me to push myself and study more.
Finally I have really enjoyed getting some new tech to go with my course. I invested in different ways to sync all my devices together so that I don't always have to take my laptop out and about. I have also invested in new portable hard drives and headphones as well as some funky new laptop skins and Ipad cases. This may seem a bit of a waste of money but it has really helped me feel organised and prepared for the start of my new course.
Now all that's left to do is get stuck in, Wish me Luck!!
