Halloween Decor

10/28/2020

It’s quickly approach my favourite time of year Halloween! I love everything halloween related from the food, spooky films and a good old scare night it just fills me with so much joy. So here are a few little decor bits that I have picked up to get me into the spirit.
Picture
A lot of my Halloween decor comes from home sense they just have the best range of products and I love how they have such a variety. These are some new purchases that I have picked up this year, I love these little gnomes and I think they are adorable they are a perfect way of creating a spooky effect and they look adorable on my mantelpiece.

I needed a centrepiece for my mantelpiece and these little characters were perfect! A spontaneous buy from home sense I have no regrets I am in love!
One thing you need to have on a Halloween is pumpkins! I always have them dotted around my house in a lot of different styles some are more for Halloween and some are just perfect fall decor. Some of these I have picked up from home sense and the pound shop (which normally has some great Halloween decor!). I like to for them around the rooms just to get into the Halloween spirit!

One of my favourite pieces of Halloween decor is my Disney Nightmare before Christmas Lazy Susan. This was a find in the Disney sale and to me screams Halloween, I love getting this out to entertain friends or even just for a movie night.

Hope you guys have a great Halloween!

Autumn Adventures - Things to do

10/23/2020

It’s no secret that I love this time of year and every year I try and embrace this season.

It’s very easy to sit in the house nice and cosy while outside it may be a cold and blustery day but in my opinion there is nothing better than getting out and experiencing the autumn season.

One of my favourite things to do is go on woodland walks there is something about the cold crisp air and the multi coloured leaves that just makes me smile. I always find it clears the cobwebs away and leaves me feeling refreshed and happy. If you feeling lucky it may always be worth doing some conked hunting (I always fail at this and go too late in the season)

An all time favourite autumn activity is pumpkin picking, we go every year without fail and I absolutely love it! I love Halloween so I enjoy going and picking out the pumpkins and planning our masterpieces for this year. It’s a great activity to do that gets you out and is suitable for all the family. It does help that our local pumpkin picking spit has a great farm shop so we always pick us up so goodies along the way.

I love to travel around and go to garden centres at this time of year it’s the perfect mix of seasons with autumn treats, Halloween and a little bit of Christmas sneaking in. Each garden centre does it differently so it’s always fun to travel and see what’s around.

If the weather isn’t quite in your favour then a night in the sofa with some Halloween classics is always an option. Pop on a candle and a classic (I always suggest Hocus Pocus) an it will be worth it.

And if you are feeling creative then you could always make a autumnal wreath. Popping down to your local craft store is always a fun trip out and the best thing is you can theme the wreaths to whatever you want!

Hope this gives you some ideas of things to do to embrace the season!

Enjoy

Lush Autumn/ Winter collection

10/20/2020

The nights are drawing in and there is nothing I love more than running a hot bath, so obviously this calls for a Lush trip! Lush recently launched some of their autumn/winter range and I thought I would give you guys a run through on what I picked up!

Getting into the spirit for the spooky season I picked up some of the Lush Halloween range. I choose a few favourites such as the Monster's Ball (a classic halloween product) and Punkin Pumpkin which is a delicious orange scented bath bomb. I decided to give Bat Art a go which is an interesting product due to the ink black design and I am intrigued on what hides inside.

Of course I decided to pick up a couple of Christmas products just to fully embrace the seasons  picking up a couple of bath bombs in my favourite scent Snow Fairy and I couldn't say no to a shower gel too. I noticed a new bath bomb in the Christmas range called I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas which boasts a delightful raspberry scent so that ended up in my basket.

I also picked up an IRL bath bomb which was the Lush collab for Digital Detox Day which smells so fresh and of course proceeds go for a good cause.

So I only picked up a few items but I am excited to see what the full Christmas range will bring!

September Favourites

10/2/2020

It's that time of the month again, it's time for a favourites post!

So this month I have a mixture of new and some returning favourites which I have rediscovered. My first love this month us my Jade Roller. I have always wanted to get a jade roller and incorporate it into my skincare routine so when one turned up in my monthly subscription box it was the excuse I was looking for. This roller is from Brushworks and I am in love, it feels so nice to spend time on my skincare but also use the roller to massage my skin makes me so happy and relaxed!

A returning favourite of mine is the Garnier Deep Conditioner, I love this product but recently I have started to use it as part of my daily hair care routine. I have seen such a difference in my hair and it feels so nourished and healthy and what makes it so much better is that it's so affordable!!!

One of my new discoveries this month is Snag Tights, getting into the autumnal spirit tights become a staple in my wardrobe. I have always just gone for cheap tights but I was sucked in by the Instagram ad and decided to give Snag Tights a go! I loved that the sizing is down to your height rather than your dress size, they are so comfy and easy to maintain, I would highly recommend!!

My Final favourite this month is Netflix, it's a little bit more unusual but all I can say is that the content this so good. What I love about this month's releases is that there is something for everyone from horror to comedy and all the bits in between.

So these are just a few of the bits that I have been loving this month, I find September a bit of a strange month as a summer comes to an end and autumn and winter begins.

What I am Watching Right Now

We have all been spending more time at home lately and no doubt have watched the entire contents of Netflix but here are a few gems that have stood out to me.

If you like a good drama then SnowPiercer on Netflix is for you, set in a post- apocalyptic world it follows the story of a train containing the last people on earth set on a loop. The train is separated into a class system and a murder on the train brings a lot of new things to the surface. This is by far a binge worthy show and we finished it over a weekend so make sure to clear your schedule!

If you are wanting some light hearted entertainment then look no further than Ghosts on the BBC, this comedy follows a young couple who inherits a haunted manor house and the ghosts are not too happy about it. This show is a great laugh and a good for a nice chilled evening with a glass of wine.

Sticking with the comedies I have recently discovered the US Office on Amazon Prime, I know that I am late to this party but I love having it on in the background while I am blogging or editing. It's such a great show to dip in and out of and I can't seem to work without it on in the background and with 9 seasons it should keep me going for a while!

If you don't have the time to commit to a TV series then I couple of movies that I highly recommend.

All Together Now on Netflix is a perfect feel good movie that doesn't hold back! It has romance, drama and loss and make sure you have the tissues at the ready as it sure does tug at the heartstrings.

And finally if you are wanting a good old trip down memory lane then I recommend The Mighty Ducks on Disney + , this was one of my favourite movies from my childhood and until recently I had forgotten how much of a gem this movie was. It has everything that any good old 90's disney movie has and more!

So as the nights draw in pop your feet up with a cuppa or a glass of wine and give these a try you wont regret it!

How I’m Getting Ready For Uni

9/25/2020

It’s that time of year again, this year has been a difficult one but we are wanting to start fresh and put it behind us.

So here is how I am preparing for my second year doing my masters.

It’s no secret that I am completing my qualification while working full time as well as my many other projects so it is important for me to stay organised and structure my time. I have found that giving myself time slots doesn’t work as I either do too little or overbook myself so blocking out days where I can dedicate to my course allows me to be flexible. I use a mixture of online resources such as my COZI app and a written diary to help organise my time more effectively.

One thing I love about starting a new year is the stationary! I found these pads last year from WHSmith’s that are perfect for my uni content. I also stocked up on an arch file for my research papers and a box file for my books. In the coming months I plan on organising my space properly but for now this system works perfectly.

It’s always important to keep all my work backed up so this 4TB external hard drive from Seagate is perfect. It helps me have piece of mind that everything is backed up.

Most importantly is making sure that you have a designated space to do your work with minimal distractions. I shared over on my YouTube channel my new desk I still need some more storage and a new chair but I am in love with my setup and it inspires me to work.

I am so excited to start this year!

Homeware favourites

!I am so happy that I can  now share some of my favourite homewares with you! I can't believe it has been 6 months since we moved out and I have really enjoyed putting our house together.

One item you will find everywhere in our house is prints!! I love artwork and feel that they can add so much more character into a room than paint or wallpaper. As we are renting we are limited to what we can do anyway but knowing how I can transform a space with just a selection of art was enough for me. I get my prints from a variety of places but one of my go to places is Desenio, they have so many choices in so many styles so you are guaranteed to find something you like. One thing I love to do is pick up some postcards and cards on my travels as they look amazing framed!
One of my new favourite pieces is a little plant pot from B and M bargains. It was inexpensive but looks such good quality! I love how neutral the colour is making it perfect to fit into any space. Though it is a plant pot I love using it to store my makeup brushes but you could have it for hair brushes, cooking utensils or even the intended purpose a plant.

I always struggle to find the most effective way to store my jewelry so when I saw this necklace holder on Anthropologie I was in love. I love how well made it is and it fits our intended color scheme in the bedroom perfectly. It has become one of my favourite pieces in the house!

One thing I am partial to is a decorative tray, you will find these dotted all around my house as a great catch all option. This one that I picked up from a holiday in Valencia is by far my favourite but I have seen so many similar trays at pretty much every homeware shop so keep those eyes peeled!
As we finish the house no doubt they may be more home related posts coming your way. Check out my post on our porch transformation!

Revolution Products Review

9/9/2020

It’s no secret that I love to try a new beauty product from makeup to skincare I am willing to give it a go. One brand that I keep trying is Revolution, this is brand that covers a lot of names but have some of the best high street dupes.

So here is a review of some beauty pieces that I have been trying out and what I think about them.

First up is the Revolution Pro Crease Proof Concealer, I featured this in my Feelunique haul video. On first look it ticked all the boxes the packaging looked amazing, it boasted full crease proof coverage and it was available in my regular colour. So what best to test this product than at a day at work if it could last me a 12 hour shift then I had found the holy grail. Unfortunately on application the formula was thick (I mean thick!) I struggled to get the product out and when I did after much effort I only managed to get a little. Let me tell you though a little goes a long way once I had managed to blend the product out I quickly realised that it was too light for me so I was lucky I had my bronzer at hand to style it out. I did notice that it did highlight some of my dry spots on my skin but boy did it brighten my under eye. However three hours into a shift it had creased and moved leaving me with patches of product so maybe not as long lasting I think I may give this a miss next time.

Another new Revolution product that I featured in my Feelunique Haul was the Revolution Pro Goddess Glow Finishing Powder. This product looks amazing and let me tell you it is! It does exactly what it says giving you gorgeous glowing complexion that looks so natural with a tan this product would just pop! I love the packaging it looks more expensive and the puff and mesh insert allows you to not pick up to much product. I couldn't boast about this product enough I can't wait to use this coming into the holiday season!

As a girl that suffers with an oily complexion powders are my best friend and I have found myself trying a lot of different powders over the years however coming out on top is the Revolution Translucent Baking Powder. Even though I have been trying this product out for a while I don't seem to have made a dent in the product! It's easy to apply (though a little messy), lasts for ages and really mattifies my skin giving me a bright finish. My only complaint with this product is the smell, it seems to have a heavy synthetic smell which is a little of putting at times.

A primer has become a major part of my makeup routine as working 13 hour shifts I need my makeup to last. I have been trialling the Revolution Pore Blur Primer over the last month and I seem to have a love hate relationship with this product. The consistency of this product reminds me of the Pore-Professional from Benefit but without the long lasting results. I find this a good product for an average day makeup look but if you wanting something long lasting to get you through your work day or a night out I would look elsewhere. This product is good at minimising pores but that's about it, it doesn't sit too well under makeup and moves throughout the day making the pore minimising effect useless. I don't think this primer will make its way back into my shopping basket any time soon.

I had to save the best until last, I am always on the lookout for a good concealer and this one is amazing! The Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer is a product I find I just can't live without! It is often compared to the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer but having not tried that product I can't really make that comparison. I find that this concealer not only offers full coverage and brightening abilities it lasts all day and sits well on the skin. It is easy to blend and almost gives your under eye an airbrushed finish. This is a product that I have repurchased many times already and will continue to do so!

As always these are just my opinions on these products and everyone will differ, Revolution to me is a good brand at an affordable price and though I may not have gotten one with some of the products I do still have my firm favourites. This brand is one that is growing and evolving and I am excited for what is to come!

My Skincare Routine

9/3/2020

My skin has always been troublesome no matter the time of year as a sufferer of oily skin I find that I have regular breakouts that I struggle to control. So even though I don't have perfect skin all the time I do have a routine that seems to work in keeping my skin in a great condition.

I start my day with a quick shower routine I swear by my Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit face wash. My next step in my shower routine is the Nivea 1 minute urban detox mask. I do this every other day it helps in cleaning my skin and making me feel refreshed for the day ahead. Once out of the shower I follow up with a cleanser I try and mix my cleanser up as much as I can as my skin can get used to it so easily I picked up the body shop camomile cleanser and I am in love!

Most of the time so when I get home it I want nothing more than to just wipe away the days grime. When I come home I love to use as little products as possible almost give my skin a break so I always reach for my magnitone eraser and my Body Shop Cleansing Butter and it wipes my makeup away no problem. My final step is before bed as it's been a while since I used my eraser it's just nice to freshen up this is where i reach for my Bioderma Micellar Water. It just makes my skin feel clean and refreshed it limits the amounts of breakouts I get which is always a bonus.

August favourites

8/31/2020

Yes, I am going to complain about how quick this year has gone but how is it the end of August already?!

So I thought I would share what I have been loving this month, I have abit of a selection of stuff from beauty to sleep oils but all have been my go to products throughout August.

As I live in the UK it's safe to say that the sun doesn't always make an appearance so I have found myself reaching for the fake tan a little bit more. I think we can all agree that you always feel a million times better with a tan however like most people I have yet to master fake tanning so that it looks natural and streak free. One of my secret weapons in my tanning regime is the St Tropez Gradual Shower Tan, this product is amazing and requires little effort making it so easy for when you want to tan but have no time. It is a product that you use in the shower and takes a grand total of 3 minutes before you rinse off, it leaves a nice gradual tan making you look natural and sunkissed.

My next favourite has been on my favourite list before and still remains a firm favourite in my routine and that is my Moroccan Oil. It has been a while since I repurchased this as I wanted to try out some new products but I have ended up back to my trusty favourite as I have found little on the market that gives me the same results as my moroccan oil. It is my holy grail product and this will be staying in my routine for a while.

During the summer months one thing I do love to do is try a new fragrance something light that reminds me of holidays. An unexpected find was the Wild Azalea Scent from Primark. This scent has become my favourite as it lasts all day and gives me the summer vibes. With hints of Patchouli, Vanilla, Tonka Beans and Citrus Fruits and a cheap price tag what is not to love about this scent! I love it so much that I may have repurchased a backup for when mine runs out!

Skincare is always my main focus during summer as there is nothing better than going makeup free on those hot summer days. A recent find is the Nip and Fab Glycolic Liquid GLow I have incorporated this into my morning routine and I have already seen a difference in my skin. I find it leaves my skin looking fresh and glowing a desired look for this time of year.

It's safe to say that the last few months have been one for the history books with a global pandemic and all. One thing that I have found in the last few months is that my sleep patterns have been disrupted with a lack of regular routine. One product that I have found helps with my sleep is the sleep diffuser oil from Tisserand. A couple of drops of this in my diffuser on a night has really made a difference in my sleep it has left me feeling more relaxed and able to go to sleep quicker.

So as we move towards the end of the year I only hope the end of 2020 is a lot kinder to us than the beginning!
